READINGS

First: Genesis 22:1-2, 9-13, 15-18

God tests Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Issac … Abraham offers, but God provides a substitute at the last minute, and showers blessings on Abraham for not refusing.

Psalm: 115

Jesus heals a leper, and orders him not to tell people what was done. But the man does tell people, so Jesus is besieged and has to go to places where no one lives.

Jesus heals: firstly Simon’s mother-in-law of a fever, and then many in the town who were suffering diseases or posessed. Then he goes to a lonely place to pray – and then to the neighbouring towns to preach there too.
